Senior Portfolio Manager-Founding Partner

Mr. Michael P. (“Chip”) Brown began his career in finance at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management (“Merrill Lynch”) managing assets for private clients. Assets were managed with a strict adherence to Graham & Dodd Principles of thorough analysis, exhaustive research, and intensive valuation of individual securities with a sufficient margin of safety. Heavily influenced by Joel Greenblatt and Seth Klarman, Mr. Brown constructed strategies combining heavily concentrated portfolios of 4-15 securities with a 35% weight in cash and treasury component to limit impairment to the assets in the portfolio and to provide liquidity for other potential investment candidates should the opportunity present themselves.

Mr. Brown lives in the Southern Yosemite-Sierra Nevadas with his wife Alyson, daughter Summer Anne, and two french bulldogs "Graham" and "Dodd". During his spare time, Mr. Brown enjoys the outdoors, hiking, hunting, and fishing; as well as dedicating time to conservation organizations dedicated to the preservation of the pristine natural habitat of the Yosemite Region.

Mr. Brown earned a B.S. Degree in Finance from Menlo College in Atherton, CA. While at Menlo College, Mr. Brown was a founding member and President of the “Financial Management Association” Chapter and Finance Club.

A Bit About Me

My passion for investments began in college and has grown into a career that I love and affords me the opportunity to help others achieve their specific goals and objectives. If you had asked me ten years ago if it would be possible to work remotely and be successful, I would have definitively said "Not Possible". The relocation at the start of the global shutdown in 2020 was eye opening in many ways. I realized not only was the remote set up doable, but I was thriving. Technology provides me with the access to research and company management that I need. The tranquility of Yosemite provides me with clarity and fosters idea generation. All that being said, I love people and meeting with clients and welcome all to come and see for yourself the inspiration my little corner of Northern California provides.
